Pittsburgh Penguins 2009 Stanley Cup Championship Parade

We (my daughter and I) decided to go to the parade at 5:00am and we arrived in Pittsburgh at 9:30am.  We parked in the Heinz Field lot and crossed over the Fort Duquesne Bridge.

Other Penguins fans climb the stairs from the Heinz Field lots to cross over into Point State Park via the Fort Duquesne Bridge.

March of the Penguins Fans to the parade route.

A fan on Stanwix Street hoists an imitation Stanley Cup while waiting for the parade to begin.

It's only 10:00 am and this is as close as we could get to the stage on Stanwix Street.

Behind us on Stanwix Street was another imitation Cup.

To pass the time away while waiting for the parade to begin Pens fans began tossing a football around for some self entertainment.  The young man on the far side of Stanwix Street was trying to toss the ball into the open fourth story window on the opposite side of the street.

This is his attempt about half way across the street.

His pass bounces off the building near the third story window.

The same young man finally was successful getting the ball into the open fourth story window and the crowd erupted with satisfaction.

The occupant of the fourth story window displays the successful attempt.

This young fan calls out for someone to pass him the ball.

This young lady prepares to make a pass.  Notice all the autographs she has on her jersey.

I think she likes Talbot!  Also visible in this shot is one of several beach balls being volleyed about amongst the fans.

Inflatable Cup

I couldn't resist snapping this portrait of the same girl who threw the football in the photo above.

This will do till the real thing makes it's way down the Boulevard of the Allies.

A camera for every fan.

Mario Lemieux arrives on the stage.

Chris Minard #23, Alex Goligoski in the middle, and that's Jordan Stall on the far side.

This would have been a great spot to shoot the festivities from.

Crosby raises the Cup, Talbot pops the cork on a bottle of Champagne while Jordan Stall looks on.

Mario Lemieux address the crowd while the team listens.  Chris Kunitz is video taping the proceedings on the left and that's Fleury behind him.

The crowd cheers for coach Bylsma as he addresses the throng.  He can be seen on the big screen.

This is a shot of the crowd that was behind us on Stanwix Street.

Penguins radio voice, the beloved Mike Lang speaks to the fans.

The Old 29er Phil Bourque takes a turn behind the microphone and excites the crowd.

Fireworks are launched somewhere near the Point.

Four shots of fellow Penguins fans surrounding us on Stanwix Street.

Yet another Cup!

Do you think she likes Jordan Stall (sign) or Fleury (hat and face paint)?

Some shots of the crowd dispersing as we make our way back to Point State Park and Heinz Field.

We spotted these revelers just before entering Point State Park.

Walking back across the park to get to the Fort Duquesne bridge.

Stopping for a cold soft drink.

Views of the Fort Duquesne Bridge, Heinz Field and the Del Monte Foods building on the walk back to the car.

Four shots of a car parked near us in the Heinz Field Lot.

More Pens fans near PNC Park as we try to get back on 28 North.
